If you require vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an initial telephone appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.

This will include:

  • Which countries and areas within these countries you are visiting
  • How long the holiday is for
  • The type of accommodation you will be staying in

It is important to make this initial telephone appointment as early as possible – at least 8 weeks before you travel. This is to ensure the Practice Nurse can assess what vaccinations are needed for your holiday. Some vaccination schedules require a course of 2 or more injections over a period of weeks/months requiring more than one appointment.

Some travel vaccinations will incur a charge. This is because travel vaccinations are not included in the services provided by the NHS and are therefore a chargeable service.

Vaccines which we offer at the Surgery and are chargeable are:

  • Meningitis ACWY
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis A & B
  • Rabies
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Malaria tablets requiring a Private Prescription
